⁸¹⁶ That is one has to take one's name in abhivādana; but one does not take the name of the person who is saluted (Gautama VI. 12). The स्मृत्यर्थसार p. 7 says that in उपसंग्रहण (and in अभिवादन also) the person saluting says अमुकगोत्रो देवदत्तशर्माहं भो अभिवादये; मेधा. on मनु II. 122 says the words are अभिवादये देवदत्तनामाहं भो: ; हरदत्त on गौ. VI. 5 states that अभिवादन should be 'अभिवादये हरदत्तशर्मा नामाहमस्मि भो:' ; while कुल्लूक on मनु II. 124 says it should be अभिवादये शुभशर्माहमस्मि भो: (i. e. he omits the word नाम, which मनु II. 122 appears to require and which गौ. VI. 5 does not require)
