¹²²⁷ सोमो वधूरभवदश्विनास्तामुभा वरा । सूर्या यत्पत्ये शंसन्तीं मनसा सविताऽददात् ॥ ऋ. X. 85. 9. The word वर here and in some of the gṛhyasūtras also (e. g. Āp. gr. II. 16) means those who ask for the girl on behalf of the bride-groom.
