¹⁵¹⁶ मैत्रं प्रसाधनं स्नानं दन्तधावनमञ्जनम्। पूर्वाह्न एव कुर्वीत देवतानां च पूजनम् ॥ मनु IV. 152. मित्र is the presiding deity over the anus and so *maitra* means mūtrapurīṣotsarga.
