v3.c43.62
The general rule was that gifts were not to be made at night. But there are several exceptions. Atri 327 states that a gift even at night is commended on the occasions of eclipses, marriages, saṁkrāntis and the birth of a child. Devala²⁰¹¹ quoted in Par. M. I. part I, p. 194 has a similar verse and the Par. M. adds that only on the Cancer and Capricorn saṁkrāntis are gifts allowed to be made at night.
