³⁰⁷ This hymn is found in no *saṃhitā*. Sāyaṇa in his comment on Ait. Br. 29. 9 (where the sauparṇa hymn is mentioned) gives an alternative explanation saying that the sauparṇa hymn referred to is the one declared in the gṛhyasūtra viz. 'pra dhārā yantu &c.', i. e. he does not read 'pradhārayantu' as in the printed Aśv. Gṛ.; on Ait. Br. 37. 7 (where the Abhivarta, Śāsa, Apratiratha and Sauparṇa hymns are mentioned) the comment of Sāyaṇa as printed reads 'pradhārayantu'.
