भागिक—Meaning uncertain. The word has something to do with ‘bhāga’ and ‘bhoga’ which frequently occur in the Gupta Inscriptions (e. g. ‘bhogabhāgam’ in Gupta Ins. No. 40 at p. 194 and No. 41 at p. 198). Vide two Taleśvara plates (E. I. XIII, p. 109 at p. 115) and ‘Antiquities of Chamba’ (Ins. No. 15 p. 166) where both ‘bhāgika’ and ‘bhogika’ are found. Mr. Y. R. Gupte renders it as ‘owner of land’. Vide Vogel p. 130.
