आयुक्त—An officer. The exact duties are not clear. Pāṇini II. 3. 40 indicates that he knows the word in the sense of a servant or officer. Vide Gupta Ins. No. 1 p. 1 at p. 8 (Allahabad Stone pillar Ins. of Samudragupta) which has 'āyukta-puruṣa'.
