तरपति—Superintendent of all ferries. Vide Nālandā plate of Devapāla (E. I. XVII at p. 321) and Kahla plate of Sodhadeva in *saṁvat* 1134 (E. I. VII at p. 91). In the Nālandā plate 'tarika' and 'tarapatika' come immediately after one another and must be distinguished as to meaning.
