राजमार्तण्ड (folio 24b and verses 397-398) q by उद्वाहतत्त्व p 124 (reads नाड- कूल्यं प्रतीक्षते and चन्द्रलग्नबलेन तु), नि. सिं p 303 (reads राष्ट्रग्रस्ते) संवर्त (verse 67) laid down that a girl was to be married before she reached puberty, but the marriage of a girl when she is eight years old is to be commended. Parāśara (VII 9) says that a brāhmaṇa who marries a girl after she has reached puberty becomes unfit to sit for dinner in a row of brāhmaṇas and he becomes the husband of a vṛṣalī राजमार्तण्ड (folio 25a verse 391) is: अष्टवर्षा भवेद्गौरी दशवर्षा च कन्यका । . So some stigma atta- (Continued from last page) ches to the grown-up girl also. p. 152. Therefore the राजमार्तण्ड employs the word अविशुद्धा. The उद्वाहतत्त्व softens the rule by saying that all that should be considered is the moon and the lagna at the time of the marriage of a grown-up girl
