¹⁰⁷⁸ The word 'nāḍī' and 'nāḍikā' have several meanings, viz. flute, tube or pipe, vein or artery, one half muhūrta. 'Nāḍindhama' means a goldsmith (because he makes the fire flame up by blowing on it from a tube) From Kāṭhakasaṃhitā 23. 4 (Saiṣā vanaspatisu vāg-vadati yā nāḍyāṃ yā tūṇave) it appears that nāḍī was a musical instrument that produced sounds (a trumpet or the like).
