²³⁴¹ वीरासन is explained by वाच० as 'स्थितस्यैकतरः पादो भूम्यस्त एकतरश्चाकुञ्चितजानूरुपरि न्यस्त इत्येतद्वीरासनम्।', while मल्लिनाथ (on रघु०) quotes वसिष्ठ's description एकपादमथैकस्मिन्विन्धस्योरुणि संस्थितम्। इतरस्मिंस्तथा चान्यद्वीरासनमुदाहृतम्॥ This is almost the same as ह यो प्र I. 21. वाचस्पति explains all the āsanas named by the bhāṣya except the *padmāsana* (which he says is well known). पद्मासन is described in ह यो प्र II 58 and गोरक्षशतक verse 9. The त्रिशिखिब्राह्मणोपनिषद् (verses 39-40) describes पद्मासन and बद्धपद्मासन and so does Kāśīkhaṇḍa 41. 62-63. भद्रासन is defined by वाच० as 'पादतले वृषणसमीपे सम्पुटीकृत्य तस्योपरि पाणिच्छत्रपिका कुर्यात्तद्भद्रासनम्' (on यो सू II. 46). The योगयाज्ञ० (ed. by Mr Diwanji) defines it as 'पार्श्वपादौ च पाणिभ्या दृढ बद्ध्वा सुनिश्चलम्। भद्रासनं भवेदेतत्सर्वव्याधिविषापहम्॥' (III. 12).
