Injustice done to a particular individual by the state was compensated by it. In 1582 Keḷadi Rāma Rājayya for instance granted to Puṭṭanahaḷḷi Bhadri Gauḍa an *umbaḷi* as follows : “As we had your eyes put out (or taken away your threshing floor) we grant you 5 *khaṇḍugas* of land in the fields in front of Puṭṭanahaḷḷi.”⁷⁹
