Survey. The cultivated land was measured by the *rajju*=10 *daṇḍas*=40 *hands*, 1 *hand* being equal to 54 *aṅgulas*. Different standards of measurement were used for different kinds of land, such as military camping grounds, timber-forests, roads and wells, revenue-free lands, and the like.
