But the *Samāhartā* would also raise money by appealing to the people of the town and country for donations in aid of a specific undertaking (*Samāhartā kāryamapadiśya paura-jānapadān bhiksheta*) [V. II]. We may add to these the extra taxes levied on the village like *piṇḍakara*, *senābhakta*, *bali*, *utsaṅga*, *pārśva* or *pārihīnaka* by the *Samāhartā*, as noticed before.
