Among the crops grown in the villages are mentioned rice of different varieties; coarse grain (*kodrava*), sesamum (*tila*), pepper and saffron (*priyaṅgu*); pulses like *mudga*, *māsha*, *masura*, *kulutha*, *yava*, *godhūma* (wheat), *kalāya*, *atasī* (linseed), *sarshapa* (mustard); vegetables called *Śāka*, *Mūla*; fruits like plantains, pumpkins, gourds, grapes (*mṛidvīkā*); sugar-cane [II. 24].
