Alexander could not venture to post Greek governors to the east of the Indus. Here the three Satrapies were placed under Indian kings : Āmbhi, king of Taxila, ruling from the Indus to the Hydaspes; Poros (Paurava) ruling from the Hydaspes to the Hyphasis; and the king of Abhisāra country (Kashmir) ruling over the remainder.
