**Greek Evidence.** Strabo states: "The care of the king's person is entrusted to women... When he goes to hunt, it is in a kind of Bacchic procession, surrounded by women who form a circle... Some of the women are in chariots, some on horse back, some on elephants, fully armed as in war [XV. I, 55].
