**Means of Irrigation.** Fourfold means of artificial irrigation are mentioned, viz., manual irrigation, irrigation by water carried on the shoulder, irrigation by pumps (*sroto-yantraprāvartima*) and irrigation by letting in water from streams, lakes or wells, with the fourfold water-rates of ⅕, ¼, ⅓, and ¼ of the total produce respectively.
