³ D.A., pp. 66, 67. The evidence is not conclusive. This authority divides jiziyah into two kinds; one is in the form of a capitation tax, the other is kharāj-i-muqāsimah. I have not come across this view elsewhere, hence D.A., might be referring specifically to the practice under the sultans. With other forms of kharāj jiziyah should have been levied separately.
