Vyāsa's *Nītipraya* is said to have been written for a prince. It deals with what Indian *smriti* and *nīti śāstras* call *rājadharma* or duties of kings. Another Balinese work, the *Nitiśāstra Kawi* is in the same strain. Incidentally it may be observed that Viṣṇugupta Kauṭalya is referred to in a Bālinese inscription of 1041.
