Most of the mixed castes enumerated by Manu were untouchable. After stating the functions of the niṣādas, āyogavas, medas, andhras, cuñcus, madgus, kṣattṛs, pukkasas, dhigvaṇas and veṇas Manu ordains that they should live outside villages near famous trees and burial grounds on mountains and in groves.¹⁰
