v1.c15.s1.6
After the fall of the Sātavāhana dynasty, even though mighty dynasties like those of the Guptas, Pratīharas, Chalukyas, Rāṣṭrakūṭas, Colas and Palas ruled over different parts of India, not much material evidence on the every-day life of the people is available. And hence the fourth and the final stage in the study of Indian beads is associated with the establishment of Mughal empire which encompassed vast territories of India. The noteworthy feature of this period, which may be designated as 'medieval', is the fabrication of glass beads which flourished as a cottage industry at several centres in Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
