The history of arrowheads in the post-Gupta period does not mark any significant change. All kinds of arrowheads, so-called ‘Indian’ and ‘foreign’ or ‘socketed’ and ‘tanged’, etc., have been used throughout India. Of that period very few arrowheads have been reported from excavations. This rarity seems, partly at least, due to the changeover in the mode of warfare from the chariot to the horseback which promoted the use of spears, javelins and swords against bows and arrows. Still the use of the bow and arrow, as is evident from literary sources, persisted throughout.
