The Malwa culture of c. India [4.14.5] may probably have been derived ultimately from the Kayatha. In form and design element the Malwa Ware [11.10] is perhaps the richest among the Chalcolithic ceramics. Some of its forms such as the footed goblet and the pedestalled cup are un-Indian and have close parallels in Iran. This has led some to associate them with the Vedic Aryans. The Malwa people very soon started spreading s. wards in Maharashtra in search of arable lands, and by 16th century b c. they had already established a number of settlements in the Tapti and the Godavari valleys.
