DAIMABAD on the Pravara was excavated by the first writer in 1958-9 when the occupational deposit was divided into three phases, viz., the Neolithic [4.6], the Malwa and the Jorwe. Renewed excavations are being carried out by the second writer; this has been necessitated by the find in 1974 of a cache of four bronze figures consisting of a chariot yoked to a pair of bull and driven by a man, an elephant, a bufallo and a rhino. The excavations have provided evidence of a succession of five Chalcolithic cultures, viz. (1) the Savalda, (2) the late Harappa, (3) the buff-and-cream, (4) the Malwa, and (5) the Jorwe.
