At the former site the total cultural deposit was of a thickness of somewhat less than 3 m down to the natural rock. Two Pds were distinguished by the excavator, with Pd I, accounting for the major part of the deposit, subdivided into two phases, and Pd II medieval. Phase A did not present any structure, except a brick wall (size of brick 25×19×6·3 cm and a drain of pottery pipes telescoped into one another. In Phase B ruins of two rubble stone walls were traced. The pottery consisted of a sturdy ware with bright red slip strongly reminiscent of the red ware group of the ‘Āndhra’ levels of BRAHMAGIRI and CHANDRAVALLI though the typical russet-coated painted ware was absent. The black-and-red ware in limited quantities was throughout present in Pd I. The conical bowl, lid with flanged waist, carinated cooking vessel, basin with everted rim and shouldered jar with flat rim form the range of types; besides a basin with deep notches in the interior was observed. Beads of quartz, glass and coral and terracotta figurines, bangles, an animal seal, gold pin and thin eroded copper coins formed the range of antiquities.
