A Megalithic site excavated at KHUNTITOLI, Dt Ranchi, yielded evidence of a pit dug within a larger pit, containing grave goods including pottery and personal ornaments. The whole pit was filled with earth with a capstone supported on boulders placed over part of it. The jars were of plain red colour as distinct from the black-and-red ware of the s. Indian megaliths. Many of them contained human bones and it will not be unreasonable to conclude that this was an example of post-cremation communal burial. The burial contained a few beads of agate, coral, red paste, copper and bronze and a copper-bronze bangle but not iron nor any datable object.
