A distinctive feature of the c. Indian megaliths is that only one type of Megalithic burial, viz., the stone circle with cairn filling, is available in this vast region except the singular example of a dolmen at PIMPALGAON in Dt Bhandara. In Madhya Pradesh stone circles have been reported from Dts Seoni, Raipur and Durg, while in Dt Bastar, which is the s.-e. boundary of Madhya Pradesh and which is the land of the Gonds, megalithism is a living tradition.
