The Russet-coated Painted Ware painted as usual with lime or kaolin under a russet-coloured slip is an intrusion. Paintings are found both in the Black-and-red Ware and red wares and consist of geometric and linear patterns. Incised decorations mostly on red ware comprise thumb-nail marks, herring-bones, chevrons, etc.
