*4.4.1 Siwalik region*. The evidence for the Upper Palaeolithic phase in the Siwalik region is scanty. There are a few assemblages in Pakistan (de Terra *et al.*, 1939) which chronologically seem to be contemporary with those of the peninsula. On the Indian side the evidence is not well-marked.
