From the Upper Gravel and Upper Clay deposits at KANDIVLI near Bombay Todd, 1939, obtained an assemblage characterized by blade and burin implements and claimed to have typological similarities with the Aurignacian industries of Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The noteworthy tool types of Todd’s collection are the polyhydral, angle and parrot burin, steep scraper, borer and knife. Later investigations by Malik, 1959, confirmed the claims of Todd as around BORIVLI he discovered remains of flake-blade-scraper industry of siliceous material.
