N.-e. of Renigunta in Dt Chittoor four Upper Palaeolithic localities were discovered by Murty, 1966, 1969, 1970. The tools of this region are located on the eroded first aggradational terrace formed by a red-soil deposit. The tools comprise specimens made on fine grained grey and purple quartzite lumps. The proportions of blades and blade tools are considerably high in this industry. There are also a few backed blades. Besides the typology of the tool kit is marked by high frequencies of burins and points. Most of the points are made on blades. A considerable proportion is formed by the end scrapers. The Renigunta group is quite rich both numerically and typologically.
