v1.c9.s7.23
This bold interpretation of the data requires serious consideration, though in some respects it is open to objections. For example, the modestness of the Kalibangan citadel need not necessarily indicate its chronological priority to the Mohenjo-daro one; being a smaller settlement, Kalibangan's requirements must have been correspondingly limited. Again, mercantilism, as manifest in trade, is more obvious in the larger settlements than in the Hakra-Ghaggar valley.
