**Almel,** Dt Bijapur. Chalcolithic [4.14.8] site with the typical grey ware of BRAHMAGIRI, a smaller number of forms part. The *stūpa* area despoiled in the last years of the 18th century has been often haphazardly excavated thereafter, bringing to light an immense sculptural wealth, invaluable for the study of the early art of s.-e. India.
