Excavation in the Mahasati area in the fort enclosure laid bare four shrines, ashes and charred bones. Of the five structural phases, Phase I roughly dates to *c.* 11th century A.D. An interesting structure was a paved platform over which stood a *satī*-stone. Two other loose *satī*-stones were also found. *IAR 1953-4; 1954-5; 1955-6; 1956-7; 1958-9; 1959-60.*
