The remains of an impressive Gupta temple were discovered on the other bank of the river. During the digging for the foundation for some of the buildings in the area a number of sculptures were accidentally found. Many of them have been identified as depicting episodes from the *Rāmāyaṇa*, whereas one is an early representation of Andhakāsuravadha-mūrti Śiva. Stylistically they can be dated to the late 4th and early 5th centuries. Besides there is an exquisite life-size image of Gaṅgā, having on its pedestal a label inscription *Gaṅgā bhagavatī* in 6th-century characters.
