The *stūpa* seems to have degenerated in the Sātavāhana-Kṣatrapa period as the replacement of some of the *sūcīs* with later palaeography, cruder delineation of sculptures and the find of later Sātavāhana coins and the Red Polished Ware [11.23] would indicate.
