**Sangam¹**, Dt Akola (?). Tools of both Series I and II (Lower and Middle Palaeolithic [4.2, 3]) were found. A completely silicified piece of wood was also collected from the earlier gravel bed, perhaps the first recorded occurrence of fossil wood in the Deccan. *IAR 1955-6*.
