Eleven large and a few small hearths of varying dimensions have been met with, the size-range being 1·02 to 0·45 m on plan at the bottom and 1·49 to 0·70 m at the top. Dug out with sharp tools made of horn or hardened wood, they are of a circular, oblong and irregular hexagonal shapes. The one having a paved floor and postholed enclosure has been identified by the excavators as a community hearth. Animal bones in a semicharred condition have been obtained. In two cases the hearths were scooped twice.
