⁴² SN., pp. 163 ff.; SNA. ii. 542 ff.; DhA. i. 199 ff. Thomas (op. cit., 109) assigns the Māgaṇdiya incident to the ninth year. I am not sure if this is correct, for the Commentaries say the Buddha was then living at Sāvatthi.
