gaṇḍa-māḍa, probably ‘māḍa bearing the figure of a rhinoceros’ or an abbreviation of Gaṇḍagopāla-māḍai (q.v.); sometimes characterised by the epithet ‘small’; sometimes also called kārṣāpaṇa, niṣka and gaṇḍa-niṣka; see māḍa.
