Table XVII of the Imperial Census of India for 1931 shows under the headings of Aghorī, Faqīr, Jogī, Sādhu and Sannyāsī a total of more than a million persons, not far from half of whom are females, but does not so return ascetics as to show how many Gorakhnāthīs there are in India.
