Some Yogīs wear around the loins, a special rope made of black sheep’s wool to which they fasten the loin cloth, laṅgoṭī. It is called ārband-laṅgoṭ-nāg. As the last word in this name signifies, they, except for the rope, go naked. This cord, which is an inch or more in diameter, is made on a bobbin, and is finished with a loop on one end and a button on the other.⁴ It is fastened in front. Most Yogīs use a strip of cotton cloth instead of this rope of wool.
