V. VISHṆU UPANISHADS.—These explain Vishṇu (Nârâyaṇa, Nṛisiṃha, etc.) similarly in the sense of the Upanishad teaching, and regard his various avatâras as impersonations of the Âtman :— *Mahâ, Nârâyaṇa, Âtmabodha;* *Nṛisiṃhapûrvatâpanîya, Nṛisiṃhottaratâpanîya;* *Râmapûrvatâpanîya, Râmottaratâpanîya.*
