In the sixth opinion, the word *naivaśaikṣa-nāśaika* as translated by Mr. Masuda appears to be ambiguous,² and preference should be given to the meaning "nirvāṇa" as assigned to it by the *Mahāvyutpatti*. The sense would then be that according to the S., some and not all arhats attain Nirvāṇa (full emancipation).
