∗ Among the vouchers for the connection of the Tritsus and Sriñjayas I also reckon Rv. vii, 19, 3, although of course the weight of this passage is diminished by the mention of Trasadasyu and the Pûrus being made therein at the same time. As Vîtahavya and Sudâs there stand beside each other, it appears to me to be clear that Vîtahavya is to be understood as a proper name of the Sriñjaya prince, cf. “Ath. V.,” v, 19, 1; “Taitt. Samh.” v, 6, 5, 3; “Pañc. Br.” xxv, 16, 3. A Vîtahavya is also lauded in the Bharadvâja book, which is, as is well known, friendly to the Sriñjayas (Rv. vi, 15, 2, 3). Aliter Zimmer, p. 132.
