¹ Umāsvāti in commenting on T. 7, 16 explains sāmāiya to be a regulation stating how long the layman is willing to keep the Great Vows.—It strikes the eye that in Dasā 6 II sāmāiya and desavagāsiya are treated as one subject; se ṇaṃ sāmāiyaṃ desavagāsiyaṃ ṇa sammaṃ aṇupālittā bhavai.
