Sūryadāsa ( c. 1541 A.D. ), was the son of Jñānarāja and native of Pārthapura, a village near the confluence of the Godavari and the Vidarbha rivers. His gloss on the *Līlāvatī* and the *Bījagaṇita* are known as *Gaṇitāmṛtakūpikā* ( or *Amṛtakūpikā* ) and *Sūryaprakāśa Bījavākhyā* respectively. Both contain excellent clear interpretation of the text with a concise explanation of the principles of the rules.
