The *Maitrāyaṇīya Śulba-sūtra* is a different recension of the *Mānava Śulba-sūtra*. They cover almost the same ground and, more than that, many passages of them are identical. But still they should not be mistaken as one and the same work. The arrangement of matter in them is not parallel. And there are also other marks of distinction between them. The *Maitrāyaṇīya Śulba-sūtra* is comprised of four *khaṇḍas* (or “sections”).
