The life of each astronomer, as a rule, contains information on mostly the following points — his date, place, works compiled, commentaries on the works and an estimate of his capabilities. If any of his ancestors or descendants also happened to be authors, they are also taken into account. In addition to this, the remarkable feature of his life, if any, has been mentioned in the contents. The contents give a list of works or their authors along with the Śaka year which indicates the year of compilation unless the words birth Śaka are added.
